Bob James is one of the key players when it comes to the musical evolution of hip hop. I found a Red Bull Music Academy based interview where Bob himself shares his thoughts about his career.
The song on 38:05, “El Verano” by Bob James… Wow, just listen to it (also on Spotify).
Some of y’all probably noticed that “El Verano” is sampled i.e. for Masta Ace - N.Y. Confidential:
Masta Ace’s & Edo G’s “A&E” album was officially pushed back due to some issues with the TV channel A&E. I heard thru the grapevine that it already leaked, so I just had to check it out. After the first listening rounds it sounds like quality with a couple of gems.
In “Here I Go Again” the veterans share some humble thoughts about the ups and downs of their 20 year long journey in the rap game. It must’ve been a tough road to travel; moving on from majors to kind of independent niche artists while contrasting day job with MCing as a profession.
Fortunately they both chose the latter one.

Attention all the Masta Ace listeners: did you know Ace & Edo G have an album called “A & E” coming out on October 6th? The EMC fella reveals his thougts about the industry at this brand new interview by UGSMAG.
“Long gone are the days of major labels giving you quarter million dollar budgets to make your record, then $400,000 to promote and market your record.” -Masta Ace
Last time when A & E collaborated on Edo G’s and Pete Rock’s “My Own Worst Enemy” album, the result sounded like this:

The letter combination EMC (= Masta Ace, Wordsworth, Punchline & Stricklin) has been snoozed on with their brilliant The Show album (Spring 2008). According to Wikipedia, the album sales have reached only 6000 copies in the first 7 months.
At least EMC stays true and tells the hard story of being an artist: EMC - Feel It
The Slept On -series goes thru music that has gained relatively too little attention.
I’ve noticed that many people have been sleeping on the artist / producer named Marco Polo. Marco, from Toronto, made it to the “A Long Hot Summer” album by Masta Ace. It is said that since Masta Ace didn’t have any budget left, Ace recorded a song for Marco Polo as an exchange. The song became the first single and essential part of the “Port Authority” album (2007).

PS. If you like tune, you might want to check out the group called EMC (= Masta Ace, Wordsworth, Punchline & Stricklin).
