Ya’ll might want to check “The Album of the Year” (2010) by the Detroit producer / MC Black Milk. There are some hard beats like the following one:
Black Milk - Black & Brown (feat. Danny Brown)
1) Thoughts about timeless music,
2) Gems forgotten over the years,
3) Excerpts from new releases.

Back to the basics with Dilated Peoples, the year is 2000.

I don’t know exactly what’s going on behind the scenes, but Slum Village did drop an album called “Villa Manifesto” a couple of weeks ago. And J Dilla is on several tracks.
It’s been said that the head of the label and Elzhi are not getting along. Whatever it is, I hope they get back together… But it’s already sad that half (?) of Elzhi’s (who’s a really, really dope MC) verses got dropped from the album.
Here’s the Spotify link for the album. My man Hatsolo picked the following track as well.
Slum Village - Scheming feat. J Dilla, Posdnuos & Phife
The Roots actually did videos for both of my favorite tracks from the “How I Got Over” album.
The Roots feat. Monsters of Folk - Dear God 2.0
Like my man Pasi reminded, the original piece is ill as well:
Monsters of Folk - Dear God
I hadn’t noticed the title track from the upcoming album by The Roots until now. There’s only one 16 rapping verse from Black Thought on the track, but that’s some serious spitting.

Listened to some Supersci (Sweden) tracks from 2006, it was a while since the last time. I never knew “Get!” had a video. Really honest stuff right there.
Supersci feat. Remedeeh - Get!
Sorry for the lil summer break I had with the blog.
Anyway, this is not the newest stuff, but like I wrote in the Marco Polo & Masta Ace - Nostalgia post, people have been sleeping on it. “For The Future” off the “Port Authority” album is worth picking to your playlist.

PS. If you’re around Jyväskylä today or tomorrow, check “The Payback Jam“.
A great song from the Brooklyn based group, produced by DJ Premier. It was released in 2003, but I forgot it had such a quality video.
Pitch Black - It’s All Real
Btw. Ain’t that Kurtis Blow on 1:27?
I went thru some non-album songs by Mobb Deep and remembered “What Can I Do” from the “Free Agents” mixtape (2003). The song samples a soulful gem by Gwen McCrae.

Mobb Deep - What Can I Do?
Back to basics. During their 18 years long career, Mobb Deep has released a lot of dope tracks on mixtapes, b-sides and other unofficial releases in addition to the well-known albums.
One example is the following track that saw its daylight on “The Cutting Floor 2″ (2007) mixtape by The Alchemist.
