What is Soul?!!?!?
For two and a half weeks, 10-12 hours a day, we have been inside the dark Kiasma theatre with Flow Mo working on our new theater piece “Response”. We started planning and making material last spring and the whole experience has been extremely heavy. I can honestly say that we all had to strech our limits in every aspect of mind, body and soul. It also feels like this the most personal crew show we have ever done.
Today 30.7. is the premiere and tomorrow 31.7. is the second show in Kiasma Theater. Come and check it out!!
One of the topics that came up during the theater process was the meaning of Soul. What does soul represent to you personally and how do you see it in others? For me soul is deeply connected to feelings. As long as I can feel, I feel existence of the soul too, even if I felt happines or misery or anything between. One other thing I noticed was that i’m not feeling good or happy when there is nothing to do. In other words, happy don`t make me happy. I was stuck with trying to figure all this out… Then I accidentaly came across the following quote from Friedrich Nietzsche and found myself in it.
“There is one thing one has to have: either a soul that is cheerful by nature, or a soul made cheerful by work, love, art, and knowledge.”
I believe the way to find the essence of your own true soulfullnes is to strip down all the pre-meditated gestures, pretence, the effort to express and just to exist in the moment.
